I recently stayed at the Vdara Hotel & Spa, part of the MGM chain in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hotel provides a distinctive experience, notably different from the typical Vegas offerings. The absence of an in-house casino offers a respite from the non-stop energy of the Vegas Strip, which can be quite welcome after a day of touring or night of entertainment.

Upon arrival, the lobby presented itself as a functional space, accommodating a bar for social or informal business gatherings, a 24-hour café for those late-night or early-morning cravings, and a Starbucks to fuel the day’s adventures. The amenities, including a pool and spa, are consistent with what one expects from a Vegas hotel, albeit with a quieter, more relaxed vibe.

“The Vdara's thoughtful amenities, coupled with its connection to surrounding attractions made it a suitable option for me and other travelers looking for a tranquil haven amidst the Vegas buzz.”

Two casinos were within walking distance. One at the ARIA Resort & Casino across the street and the other at the Bellagio. There is a walkway from the Vdara to the Bellagio. However, during my stay it was being renovated, so the hotel provided a free shuttle bus to and from the Bellagio.

While the Vdara has different size rooms available, I stayed in the Two Bedroom Hospitality Suite. This suite felt more like a residential apartment than a typical hotel room. This magnificent suite was located on the 43rd floor and I really felt at home with the modern look of the interior design. There are great views of parts of the Vegas strip from the many windows in the suite. The electronic switches for window shades added a modern touch and layer of convenience and technological sophistication to the suite's amenities.

Entry to the suite is greeted with a half bathroom, conveniently placed for guests or quick use without infringing on the privacy of the main living spaces. The suite unfolds into a kitchen and living room area that feels more like a home kitchen than a hotel setup, equipped with full-size appliances including a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and notably, a garbage disposal – a rarity in hotel accommodations.

The kitchen island is sizeable and well-positioned in the heart of the suite, complemented by a practical black round table for dining or working. The living room boasts an added luxury with a wine cooler refrigerator, an amenity for the wine aficionado or for entertaining.

A hallway leading from the living area to the bedrooms houses a utility closet, a practical addition containing a stacked washer and dryer, underscoring the suite's residential functionality.

The bedrooms maintain the apartment-style ambiance, each with an ensuite bathroom featuring both a shower and bathtub – a layout that prioritizes privacy and convenience. One is slightly more spacious and includes a bathroom with windows, offering natural light and a view. The smaller bedroom lacks windows in its ensuite bathroom.
