Spreads Kosher Bagels & Cafe was my first stop. Located in Southfield, this casual eatery is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is unpretentious, with a focus on good food and friendly service. Their bagels are the star of the show. I tried their everything bagel with lox. They also offer a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads. For those with a sweet tooth, the cafe has a selection of pastries and cookies. The coffee here is solid, making it an excellent pairing with any of their breakfast options. If you’re looking for a quick and satisfying kosher meal, Spreads is a dependable choice.

Right near Spreads is Wok In Cari Out, a kosher Chinese takeout restaurant. Don’t let its unassuming location fool you—this place serves up some of the best kosher Chinese food I’ve had in a while. The menu includes all the classics: General Tso’s Chicken, beef and broccoli, lo mein, and fried rice, among others. Their egg rolls are delicious. Portions are generous, and everything is packaged neatly for takeout. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick lunch or a family dinner, Wok In Cari Out is a must-try.

Zeman's Kosher Bakery in Oak Park is a cornerstone of the local Jewish community. Established in the early 20th century, this bakery has a rich history and continues to be a favorite for many residents and visitors alike. Walking into Zeman’s, you’re greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly baked goods. Their challah is legendary—soft, slightly sweet, and available in several variations, including plain, sesame, and raisin. I also tried their Cherry Danish, which really hit the spot. For those celebrating special occasions, Zeman’s offers an assortment of cakes and pastries. Their rugelach, filled with cinnamon or chocolate, is another popular item. This bakery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality baked goods.

The Grove Kosher Market is a large supermarket that’s more than just a place to shop—it’s an experience. Located near Spreads, this market has everything you could need to stock a kosher kitchen. From fresh produce to pre-packaged meals, The Grove covers all the bases. I spent a good amount of time exploring their extensive deli section, which features prepared foods like kugel, brisket, and roasted vegetables. For those in search of specialty kosher products, The Grove offers a wide selection of imported items, including Israeli snacks and wines.
