I recently went to visit Summit One Vanderbilt, a striking new skyscraper adjacent to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Accompanied by my mother, we set out to explore this modern marvel and experience its unique offerings.

Since it is located right next to the iconic Grand Central Terminal, Summit One Vanderbilt is easily accessible. The building's proximity to this major transit hub made our journey convenient and stress-free.

“Summit One Vanderbilt a multi-sensory experience that combines art, architecture, and technology. Visiting with my mother, we shared a memorable day exploring this novel New York landmark.”

One Vanderbilt, towering at the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, is a superlative example of modern architecture and urban development. Opened in 2020, this 93-story skyscraper, with a roof height of 1,301 feet and a spire reaching 1,401 feet, is currently the fourth-tallest building in New York City, following One World Trade Center, Central Park Tower, and 111 West 57th Street.

Our experience began by putting on protective shoe coverings distributed by the Summit staff. These are needed to protect the glass and mirrored floors we will encounter at the summit.

We then took the elevator ride to the summit, which included a media show during the ride up. The swift ascent offered a momentary glimpse into the architectural brilliance of the building.

Upon reaching the summit, we were greeted by the stunning glass and mirrored floors. Walking on these floors was both exhilarating and surreal, giving the sensation of floating above the city. The reflective surfaces created a mesmerizing and psychedelic effect, amplifying the breathtaking views of the New York skyline.

The Summit also houses a unique collection of sculptures, adding a museum-like quality to our visit. Each piece was thoughtfully placed, allowing visitors to engage with the art while enjoying the panoramic views. This integration of art and architecture made our experience culturally enriching.

We then took a turn to experience the glass box which extends outward from the building. It involved stepping out over the city on a glass ledge suspended 1,100 feet above Madison Avenue, offering heart-racing views. I enjoyed it, but if you are afraid of heights, you may want to skip this part.

A highlight of our visit was the balloon room. This whimsical space was filled with silver helium filled balloons, creating a playful and fun atmosphere. It was a delightful experience, bringing a sense of childlike wonder and joy to both kids and adults.

The final leg of our journey was the glass elevator ride, taking us even higher up the side of the building. This elevator provided an unobstructed view of the city below, making it a thrilling experience. As we ascended, the sprawling urban landscape of New York City unfolded beneath us in a breathtaking display.

Our visit wasn't just about seeing another tall building in New York City; it was about experiencing the fusion of modern architecture, art, and innovative design. Summit One Vanderbilt a multi-sensory experience that combines art, architecture, and technology. Visiting with my mother, we shared a memorable day exploring this novel New York landmark. For anyone looking to experience the city from a new perspective, Summit One Vanderbilt is a must-visit destination.
