The Armon Hotel and Conference in Stamford, Connecticut, offers a convenient getaway from the frenetic pace of New York City, located just about a 45-minute drive away. Stamford itself is a relatively quiet city with a suburban feel, yet it has enough to offer for a quick retreat. You can expect a more relaxed atmosphere than the fast pace of the city, making it ideal for anyone looking for a break.

Upon check-in, I noticed the hotel seemed almost empty, so I asked if they were fully booked. Surprisingly, I was told the hotel was full, though I saw fewer than ten guests during my stay. I stayed mid-week, and apparently, the hotel is busier on weekends when conferences are held. If you're seeking peace and quiet, this is the perfect spot.

The hotel lobby is spacious, and the hotel has nice amenities including a pool and gym, both of which I made use of. For dining, there’s a very good kosher dairy restaurant on-site called Napoletana, where hotel guests get a 20% discount on breakfast. I found that a nice perk, especially if you're looking for convenience.

I stayed in a Junior Suite, which was quite spacious. The suite featured a sofa that could be converted into an additional bed, a mini fridge, and a Keurig machine. The room was clean and well-maintained, though I did notice one of the lamps was missing a lightbulb. It wasn’t a problem for me since there was enough light from the other lamps, so I didn't bother asking for a replacement.

The suite also came equipped with an iron, a hairdryer, and a safe. However, the safe wasn't bolted down to anything, which made it feel less secure. I didn’t use it since, in theory, someone could simply walk off with the safe itself. It's a detail worth noting for guests who might prioritize secure storage.

Other amenities at the Armon Hotel include conference facilities and parking on-site, though parking comes with a fee. While the atmosphere was very low-key, that could be a positive if you're just looking to relax and recharge. For those who prefer a more active environment, visiting on a weekend when the hotel hosts events might offer a livelier experience.

One thing to note about the Armon Hotel is that some rooms face outward, while others face inward toward the lobby. My Junior Suite was one of the inward-facing rooms, so I didn’t have a scenic view. If you're particular about having a view, it might be worth requesting an outward-facing room when booking.
