While in Detroit, Michigan, I had the pleasure of visiting Prime 10, a kosher steakhouse and meat restaurant in Southfield. Located at 15600 W 10 Mile Rd, this upscale eatery delivers a culinary experience that reflects the Jewish heritage deeply embedded in the Southfield and Oak Park communities.

Southfield and its neighbor Oak Park, just north of Detroit, have been centers of Jewish life in Michigan for decades. Jewish families began settling in these areas in the mid-20th century, drawn by suburban growth and a strong desire for community. The area's synagogues, Jewish schools, and kosher markets grew in tandem, making Southfield a cultural and religious hub for Detroit's Jewish population. This history is palpable in establishments like Prime 10, which cater to both the dietary and cultural sensibilities of the community.

From the moment I stepped into Prime 10, I was struck by its inviting yet sophisticated ambiance. The friendly staff greeted me, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. The restaurant balances modern design with a cozy warmth, making it equally suitable for intimate dinners or larger celebrations.

My dinner began with Chicken Noodle Soup, a classic dish. The broth was rich and flavorful, showcasing a depth that can only come from hours of careful preparation. The large noodles and chicken pieces were delicious, making this a comforting start to the meal.

Next, I sampled the Cauliflower Tempura, which stood out as a creative and lighter appetizer. The crispy batter encased perfectly cooked cauliflower florets, and the accompanying ranch and spicy mayo dips provided complementary flavors.

For the main course, I chose the Backyard BBQ Chicken. The boneless dark meat was expertly marinated and grilled, offering a perfect balance of tangy and smoky barbecue notes. The crispy seasoned red-skin potatoes served on the side added a hearty element to the dish.

Prime 10's menu offers a diverse array of options, ranging from casual favorites like burgers and wraps to elevated steak and fish entrees.

Appetizers include options like Loaded Fries topped with pulled brisket and Prime Steak Bites, served with sautéed mushrooms and onions. Vegetarians will appreciate the Moroccan Flatbread, which combines sautéed vegetables with warm naan bread.

The soups and salads section offers staples such as Roasted Vegetable Soup and hearty salads like the Prime 10, which features a mix of romaine, roasted vegetables, mandarin slices, and cranberries.

For those seeking indulgence, the House-Cut Steaks include a variety of ribeye and New York strip cuts, each served with soup or salad and sides like garlic mashed potatoes or Cajun cauliflower.

The fish dishes range from the Moroccan Salmon, seasoned and served over rice, to Blackened Salmon with a spicy tomato dipping sauce.

Specialty entrees such as BBQ Beef Ribs and Chicken Marsala cater to diners looking for comfort food with a gourmet twist. Meanwhile, the burger and sandwich selections are robust, offering options like the Prime Burger, stacked with beef fry and garlic aioli, or the Steak Sandwich on a toasted bun.
